BREADALBANE FC 4-1 MARKINCH AFC
An excellent display at Home St saw the Amateur side book their place in the Scottish Cup 3rd round. It required a replay after 10 man Breadalbane had performed well to take the tie back up the road after a hard fought 1-1 draw last week in Fife against a very useful Markinch Amateur FC side who sit near the top of the Kingdom of Fife League.
The heavens opened just before kick off to add some extra zip to what was an already slick surface that had been expertly prepared.
Breadalbane started the game brightly and looked the busier of the sides. At times, the final ball was just found wanting but not so when Sullivan was released on the right. He cut inside his man before curling an unstoppable shot with his left low into the corner.
HT 1-0
The second half continued in a similar vein and, urged on by the large support, Breadalbane would double their lead. Wilson squared the ball to Fearns who smashed the ball high past the keeper's right.
The tie was effectively put to bed with around 20 minutes remaining when the home side found a third. More good work on the left by Wilson before he found Fearns at the back post who finished from close range.
Breadalbane lost the chance of a clean sheet when Markinch grabbed a goal late on when a ball was allowed across the goal. To their credit they found a quick reply. Murray Childs smashed the ball into the roof of the net after brother Ross had released him down the left.
FT 4-1
A stirring team performance where every individual performed at a high level but getting the nod for Man of the Match was Carr at centre half. A dominant defensive display combined with good use of the ball.
Both matches were played in a good spirit and we wish Markinch all the best for their season.
Breadalbane now face an away tie to Milngavie Wanderers AFC on Sat 2nd November.
